LaVille Latest To Leave NSC

The size of the Northern State Conference just continues to grow smaller.

LaVille High School is the latest member of the league to decide to leave the NSC.

LaVille, a charter member of the NSC since its inception in 1966, announced Friday that it will join Triton, Culver and Knox in departing he conference.

The four schools are set to join a new conference in 2015-16. That conference, which does not yet have a name, is set to also include North Judson, Winamac, Pioneer and Caston. North Judson is currently an independent, while the other three schools are members of the Midwest Conference.

LaVille, like its counterparts who are leaving, stressed the desire to become more competitive across the board in its athletic program with schools more its enrollment size when announcing its decision on Friday.  The LaVille decision will become official on Sept. 12 when it is approved by the school board.

The schools remaining in the NSC after next year include Jimtown, New Prairie, Glenn and Bremen.
